- Trucks require more space and greater distances to operate safely. What areas of Glynn County/Brunswick are trucks creating local congestion or safety issues?
- Truck parking is a national crisis and often times operators park in random parking lots and streets. Where have you observed trucks parking in your community?
- Often times truck routing software and tools direct trucks through local neighborhoods, which can create community conflict. Where have you observed trucks operating in neighborhoods where you feel they do not belong?
- Given the anticipated increase in freight volumes at the Port of Brunswick, it is anticipated that train traffic through the area will also increase significantly. Please identify any rail crossings you feel are safety concerns or create congestion as a result of train traffic?

Pave the roads!! You need to start from scratch, remove old pavement, level the road out with correct water flow to drains and re-pave this entire road. The safety concern is somebody hitting an exposed manhole and blowing a tire. This could create a devastating accident.

Create a 2-way bike path or mark off a bike/pedestrian lane to connect Bay Street to Newcastle to 4th Ave. 4th Ave and Newcastle are wide enough for road marking but a separate path would be needed on Bay because of the heavy truck traffic and industrial use. Also, safety dividers are needed between path and road on Bay and possibly 4th.

Truck traffic along Parkwood during school hours is dangerous for the kids walking/biking to Goodyear Elementary. Install better protections or alert systems on Parkwood to make sure all traffic slows appropriately and drivers are aware of kids.

the sidewalk along Habersham (from Pinewood to Townsend) should be expanded to a 2-way biking/walking path with a rumble strip separating the path from the road. So much truck traffic on this road is dangerous to bikers/pedestrians.

This area of Gloucester is very congested and unsafe for kids walking to/from school and Coffin Park. The improvements to Lanier were ok, but not enough to protect walkers/bikers from truck and car congestion.

We need better pedestrian/biking path along Prince Street. The road is wide enough to add a bike/ped lane and possibly a divider to keep walkers/bikers safe from the truck traffic

GPA projects Colonel's Island expansion to 1.4 million vehicles per year, up from 1 million now. GPA does not, apparently, participate in any BATS Committee. Their reports do not shed any light on off-site impact, as far away as Claxton and Darien, which will take oversize equipment over Glynn County and interstate roads. It does not appear that Glynn County knows much about Port development, or its impact on infrastructure. The County needs GPA plans to prepare for, and to evaluate impacts.

We need to plan for the eventual removal of Mayors Point functions to Colonels Island, where there is better rail and highway access. The GA Ports authority only uses this facility for low-value-added forest products, and the opportunity cost of maintaining that facility is huge in terms of Brunswick's inability to attract major multi-use, hospitality and tourism investment. Heavy 40' trucks with tree trunks, and freight trains will continue to be a major impediment to Brunswick's success.

The continued presence of rail tracks is a major impediment to river-side development in Brunswick. The rails only serve Mayors Point, which only handles low-value base materials. My personal recommendation is to plan for the medium term for removing the Mayors Point assets and functionalities to Colonels Island. The proposed multi-use development at the Marina should be a guide as to how this stretch of road will go, and moving rail and heavy truck traffic from Brunswick is key.

Extremely unsafe intersection. With this being a primary point of access for the College, as well as the significant amount of traffic from Willie's Wee-Nee Wagon and the shopping center on the West side of Altama, this intersection is in desperate need of a STOPLIGHT (!) for student, teaching, and citizen safety. Left turns onto Altama from 6th street and Mariner's way are VERY unsafe! Bike lanes are extremely unsafe due to traffic patterns. (have seen cyclists hit by speeding cars here twice).

Extremely unsafe intersection, southbound traffic flies through the "slip". Most other traffic does not follow stop signs, and trucks and cars regularly make extremely unsafe turns, blocking multiple lanes of oncoming traffic in the process.

G street and Newcastle intersection needs a stop sign! Southbound traffic on Newcastle does not properly reduce speed when transitioning from the 45mph zone to the 25mph zone. A pedestrian crossing here would increase safety substantially as the brick crosswalk in from of 1618 Newcastle has no signage/lights for pedestrians. Expanding the Newcastle Street median further North to Bay Street intersection, with angled parking on sides of street would slow traffic and provide more parking.

Speeding traffic (passenger cars and trucks) on Bay Street creates an extremely unsafe environment for pedestrian crossing. The existing flashing lights for pedestrians to activate are regularly ignored, and with 45mph speed limit (plus vehicles speeding well above this) does not provide enough time for vehicles to stop for pedestrians from when they see the flashing lights activated, particularly during daytime. Any efforts to SLOW vehicle traffic down would increase safety substantially.

Consider 4-way stop / roundabout to slow trucks down. Speed in historic district should be 25mph instead of 35mph

The rail line moves very slowing through this area, which is fine but the length of the train can sometimes impede car traffic for a long wait. The cars at the intersection of Hwy 303 and Hwy 341 get backed up.

There should be strong consideration given for widening Bay Street beyond Prince St heading south. There is RR ROW there. It would be much safer for trucks (and residents) to be able to continue along Bay St. all the way to First Ave. at the elbow curve. They they could proceed to Newcastle St./Hwy 341. At this point they would be out of the Historic District and only have three blocks to go before turning on Fourth Ave. and making their way to Hwy 17.

Some pedestrians do not feel confident crossing such a wide stretch of road, particularly with freight trucks passing by. Perhaps a pedestrian refuge island with another activation button would give more people the confidence to cross.

Trucks going to and from Habersham and Whitlock frequent the intersection of Townsend and Altama. There is no safe way to make any left turn there, resulting in lots of dangerous maneuvers by vehicles of all sizes just to barely get through. The intersection becomes briefly very congested when the high school gets out and many students walk through this intersection at that time.
