One Pickens County

Welcome to the One Pickens Comprehensive Plan Online Public Meeting!

This map activity has two components: A "Change and Preserve" activity and a "Scale" activity. Please read the instructions below for each and place pins for both activities.

Change and Preserve Activity

In the Change and Preserve activity, we want to know what places you would like to be preserved as they are today through 2040 and what places you think could change for the better. Please use the following two pins:

  • Places to Preserve: Please place these pins in parts of Pickens County that you want to preserve the character and environment as it is today. This can include neighborhoods, parks, commercial areas, and other features in Pickens County
  • Places to Change: Please place these pins in parts of Pickens County where you see opportunity for better development or community features

Scale Pins

In the Scale activity, we want to know how much development you think is appropriate for different parts of Pickens County. Place the following four types of pins in all locations where you have an opinion based on the image and descriptions below:

  • Scale - Natural: Please place these pins in the parts of Pickens County that you believe should be left undeveloped, or left to agriculture and very low-density housing and similar uses through the year 2040
  • Scale - Rural: Please place these pins in parts of Pickens County that you believe should be sparsely developed through the year 2040
  • Scale - Suburban: Please place these pins in parts of Pickens County that you believe should have a suburban environment (typically one- or two-story buildings that are mostly accessible via car) through the year 2040
  • Scale - Town Center: Please place these pins in the parts of Pickens County that you believe have an opportunity to be a more active and mixed use environment, typically including 1-3 story buildings with accommodations for bicyclists and pedestrians
